Visiting A Chinese Grocery Store

We had dim sum at our favorite spot in Monterey Park and then stopped to pick up a few things at the grocery store next door, a grocery store that is so well-named, it must be shown:

This is the only grocery store I should ever shop at again! I love Chinese signs and I promise that after the kids are back in school next week I'll upload all my old fave photos from when I was in Shanghai back in 1992.

Anyway, I needed short ribs for Kal Bi:

But a few other items caught my eye, like live blue crabs:

Then there was conch meat:

And live shrimp:

And look at all this fish:

And jumbo squid:

All well and good, right? Things I might buy from any grocery store, sort of. But then we take a bit of a left turn. Check out the snails:

And the beef tendons:

And fish heads:

And frog legs:

And of course, what visit to the grocery store would be complete without some pork uterus?

And here's a candy-type thing, I guess. Seems to come in sweet:

And sour:

I do love Chinese grocery stores!

  3. Katy, sorry it’s not to your, ahem, taste, but it was just too wacky for me not to post about.
