Back To School And Back To Blogging

Summer blogging hours are over. Time to get into the September groove.

It’s been a strange transition back to the school routine; we’re making it up and out the door with no major struggles, even though getting up at 5:30am vs. 8:30am is a large difference. I think the strangeness is in the quiet around the house all day. I love it, but it’s just such a shock, compared to the constant sounds of the boys being home all summer.

They also have a habit of walking all over the house when they’re home, depositing Legos and others toys in every room. It’s as if they need a cache safely stored in case they find themselves suddenly stranded in the kitchen with nothing to do. Don’t panic, there are Toys here!

Bonus for me: no nagging them about tidying up or tidying up after them myself. Freeing.

Also, not being the PTA President this year is freeing. I didn’t realize quite what a burden I was shouldering until it was lifted off. I have a vague recollection of the “shoulds” and “to-dos”  for running the PTA, but I’m not feeling I Should Do any of them, nor am I acutely aware of them enough — or do I care to — offer my “shoulds” to the new President. I know she’ll do what needs to be done, and that it’ll all be fine. (We may be disbanding anyway, as you may have read. In which case, who cares?)

And ironically, just as the kids have gone Back To School, I am going to Camp! WordCamp is tomorrow. Geek Heaven, in other words. A full day of talking about blogging, specifically all about WordPress. Julia of Julia’s Mexico City and I are heading over together — check out our Tweets (hashtag #WordCampLA) from the event. I anticipate a very full brain at the end of the day, so watch out for spillover…
