My kids and I are enjoying a day off from school, and I want to acknowledge my late father, Dr. E. H. (Dick) Auerswald, and his service to our country in the army in World War 2.
I like to keep his dog tags around, even though I’m not much for militaristic decor. There’s just something about having them, seeing his name on them, I just like having them.
So funny seeing him listed as a “jr.” since he never was known that way when I knew him. A holdover from childhood, since he was only 18 when he enlisted.
I honestly couldn’t tell you his rank, have no memory of that, but here’s his name and serial number. Miss you Dad!
