Fantastic Mr. Fox is a cus of a good movie and it’s coming out on dvd March 23rd.
I had read about how the Director, Wes Anderson, remained in Paris while the animators were working in London and for some reason it really annoyed me, so I was pre-disposed to dislike this movie, but instead I found it completely enchanting.
Of course George Clooney’s, Owen Wilson’s and Meryl Streep’s voices helped me to love it, and I had read and loved the book as a kid. But the movie is really an interpretation of the book, not a re-telling of the same old story.
It’s visually imaginative and inventive, the dialogue was hilarious, especially the “cussing, ” and the way the animals eat may be the most surprising and hilarious thing I’ve seen on film in a long time. It was a joy to watch and I thoroughly enjoyed it. My kids loved it, too.
My 10-year-old says: “This is Wes Anderson’s first stop-motion animation feature film and he did a great job. My favorite scenes are the Chemistry class and in Bean’s cider cellar when they fight the rat. This is a quote unquote fantastic little movie.”
My 7-year-old says: It’s a good movie and I like the character Ash the best. My favorite scenes are when Ash and Kristoferson dive into the pool and all the cussing scenes. Can I try some cider?”
Fantastic Mr. Fox is coming soon on dvd and we all highly recommend it.
{FULL DISCLOSURE} {I paid full price for all of us to see the movie when it opened last fall in theaters, and when it was set to release on dvd, I was given a copy to review.}
