I Got To Drive A Chevy Malibu To The Lilith Fair

Last weekend I grabbed a couple of Mom friends, packed up a picnic dinner, and drove this very swanky Chevy Malibu down to Irvine to the Verizon Wireless Ampitheater to see the Lilith Fair.  And it was really fun. I am not really a concert go-er normally. At least, I haven’t been in years. But I liked the idea of Lilith Fair, which is all about women artists. And I really liked the idea of hanging out with my girlfriends on a mini-road trip. The Malibu was a very nice short-term gift (read: loaner), the Lilith Fair tickets were incredible – right in the center of the main Orchestra section – and on top of everything else, we had a parking pass for the VIP lot. Actually, in one of the highlights of my personal driving (and parking) experience, when I flashed the parking pass to the attendant, she said it was “Super VIP parking.”

Which means it was very good.

Elise Derby (Elise’s Ramblings), Caroline DeVita, and Yvonne Condes (YvonneInLA) came with me and agreed to be filmed for my little video about our road trip.

I drove the Malibu around with my family for a few extra days (I even took it to Malibu) and I’ll tell you what I think. In a nutshell, here’s what I liked: fancy looking, smooth driving, very comfortable seats, quiet, and it has great performance – meaning it drives very fast on the highway, although I tried very hard to obey the speed limits. Chevy Malibu trunk spaceHere’s what I didn’t like: the trunk space is smaller than my Camry; the interior space is also smaller than the Camry, which means the most to my 6’ 2” husband and his giant legs; it doesn’t make very tight turns, like into parking spots; there’s a nasty blind spot on the driver’s side, and the cupholders are very small, which is a small and yet important thing. So I must say, it’s not the car for me.

My thanks again to Chevrolet (TheFutureIsElectric.com) for letting me test drive and review the 2010 Malibu – and for the Lilith Fair tickets, which was a really fun evening!
